A pregnant Malaysian woman gives up her LRT seat to a blind mother and her children, an encounter that leaves her emotional and grateful

IT WAS just another ordinary day for a Malaysian woman as she took the LRT to work. But something happened during the journey that changed her perspective on life.

The eight-month-pregnant woman gave up her seat to a blind mother travelling with her two young children. In return, she said she learned an important life lesson that would stay with her.

She shared the experience on Threads, not to boast about her gesture but simply to recount a moment that left a lasting impression.

The woman described how the simple act of kindness turned into an emotional moment of reflection.

She wrote:

“A blind mom got on with her two little kids, both already in primary school. I only had three stations left, and there was one empty seat, so I stood up and offered it to her.”

“I even helped her and her daughter sit down, and then I had to stand there pretending I was okay because suddenly my heart felt so heavy.”

“But I don’t know why, watching her with her two little kids just hit me so hard. From Masjid Jamek all the way to MGE, I was crying non-stop,” she said.

At first, she thought her emotional reaction was simply due to pregnancy hormones.

“Honestly, I was just so, so sad, thinking about how she has to navigate life with her kids and how much she has to handle every single day. My heart just couldn’t take it.”

She said the encounter reminded her that sometimes people could cross paths for only a few minutes, yet leave a lasting impression.

“Sometimes, you see someone for only a few minutes, but somehow their situation stays in your heart for the rest of the day.”

In another post, the woman thanked “every kind soul who gave up their seat for me on the LRT”.

“I pray that everything I made easy for you and that you are blessed with endless ‘rezeki’ (blessings). May your kindness always find its way back to you.”

The encounter also served as a reminder that people often feel overwhelmed by their own difficulties without realising that others may be carrying even heavier burdens.

Sometimes, a small act of kindness can remind us to be grateful for what we have and not to underestimate the struggles that others may be quietly carrying.
