A Malaysian retail store has expressed frustration online after a child allegedly relieved themselves inside the premises, leaving staff to clean up the mess.
The incident was shared by Threads user @darksideretail, who said the child had allegedly passed both motion and urine inside the store.
Staff only found out after another customer alerted them
According to the post, the store claimed that the parent did not inform staff about the incident.
Instead, it was allegedly another customer who alerted the staff that a child had defecated inside the shop.
“Staff also have to clean your child’s faeces. We are very disappointed with the parent’s irresponsible attitude,” the post wrote.
A photo shared in the thread showed what appeared to be droppings scattered on the floor of the retail store, while staff could be seen holding cleaning tools nearby.
Parent allegedly walked around before leaving
In a follow-up pinned comment, the account further claimed that after the incident, the parent allegedly continued walking around the shop and passed by the affected area before leaving.
The account also claimed that even though staff were nearby, no apology was given.
“Even when staff were close by, not even one word of apology was said. Staff couldn’t take it because they did not know which child it was,” the post added.
Netizens shocked by incident
The thread has since gone viral, gaining over 1 million views and thousands of reactions.
Many netizens were shocked by the alleged behaviour, with some saying that while accidents involving children can happen, parents should at least inform the staff and take responsibility.
Others also sympathised with retail workers, saying they already deal with enough challenges on the job and should not be expected to clean up such messes without being told.
As of now, the identity of the parent and child involved remains unknown.
