A Malaysian man recently shared in an anonymous post on XUAN Play that he was left puzzled after his girlfriend broke up with him, and questioned whether he still stood a chance at saving the relationship.
In his confession, the man explained that during their outings together, he would make it a habit to pay for the date first. After the girlfriend reached home, he would then list every single expense from their outing and request that she transfer half the amount back to him.
“This included movie tickets, popcorn, transport fees, and even a packet of tissues, a bottle of water, or a bowl of noodles at a roadside stall. I calculated everything down to the last few cents.
“I always told her logically that since we’re not married yet, every cent should be clearly split.”
At first, his girlfriend did not openly complain. But he admitted he could sense her growing unhappiness over time.
The breaking point came during Christmas when the man took her out and bought her a present.
She half-jokingly asked, “Later you’re not going to ask me to pay half too, right?”
After the date was over and he went home only to receive this message:
“Let’s break up.
“There was no explanation, no argument — she simply blocked me everywhere.”
The man’s mother attempted to comfort him, stating that a woman like her wasn’t worth keeping and he would find someone better in the future.
“But I still can’t let go. I still hope to get back together with her. I really don’t know what I did wrong.
“I just want to ask — do I still have a chance to win her back?”
