Malaysian netizens have been sharing their funny encounters with kids over duit raya recently, and one story in particular stood out.

A story about duit raya has amused netizens after a Malaysian shared how a group of children rejected money simply because they didn’t recognise its value.

Kids thought the money “can’t be used”

According to the user, they had given four of their relatives duit raya in Singapore dollars during a visit to their kampung.

However, things didn’t go as expected.

After opening the packets, the children passed the money to their father and said they didn’t want it, claiming it was something they “couldn’t use”.

What money is this? Cannot use, don’t want.”

The younger siblings followed suit, handing their packets back as well.

Father quietly takes the money

Seeing the situation unfold, the father, who is also the user’s cousin simply took the money and slipped it into his pocket without much fuss.

He later remarked that it was a good thing the children rejected it, adding that they had yet to understand the value of money.

The moment left many amused, especially given what the children had unknowingly given up.

“That’s more than RM100”

Netizens were quick to point out that Singapore dollar notes, often blue in colour, can be worth significantly more when converted to Malaysian ringgit.

Some joked that the father probably walked away the happiest that day, while others said the incident highlights how children often judge based on familiarity rather than actual value.

Just like other duit raya stories circulating online, it serves as a reminder that the meaning behind the gesture often matters more than how it looks or or the amount given.
