Two teenage students from a tahfiz school in Parit, Perak, were taken to the Magistrate’s Court to face serious charges relating to a brutal bullying incident that left a young student injured with burns from a hot iron.
According to Berita Harian, the accused teenagers, aged 13 and 14, appeared before Magistrate Nurul Izalina Rajaai during a closed-door court proceeding. The two teenagers pleaded not guilty after the charges over the alleged assault were read out to them.
According to the charge sheet, both accused individuals were jointly charged with intentionally causing hurt to a 13-year-old victim using a dangerous weapon capable of causing death specifically, a clothes iron.
The horrifying act was allegedly committed at a local tahfiz center in Parit on September 19 at approximately 4:00 PM, leaving the young victim with painful burn injuries.
Legal charges and bail conditions
The offense falls under Section 324 of the Penal Code, read alongside Section 34 of the same code, which carries a severe penalty of up to 10 years in prison, a fine, whipping, or any combination of these punishments upon conviction. The case was prosecuted by Deputy Public Prosecutor R Jayasri, while the two young defendants were represented by National Legal Aid Foundation (YBGK) lawyer Nur Nadzrah Badarudin.
Following the proceedings, both students were granted bail set at RM5,000 each, and the court subsequently fixed October 27 for the next case mention.
