Recently, reports have emerged that some Malaysians are selling off groceries purchased using their RM100 SARA credit in order to obtain quick cash for other purposes. This has raised concerns among consumer groups.

The Kedah Consumer Association (CAKE) stated that they have detected individuals reselling essential goods redeemed through the Sumbangan Asas Rahmah (SARA) credit to get cash for other uses.

“We received this complaint in Kota Setar. Traders informed us that some users purchased items using the RM100 SARA allocation and then resold them to get cash,” a representative said.

Additionally, his organisation also received complaints from users who had to repeatedly visit supermarkets to buy goods due to frequent system disruptions.
