KUALA LUMPUR — The owner of a consultancy company has been arrested by the anti-graft agency on suspicion of soliciting and accepting bribes of about RM30,000.

The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) said a woman in her 60s, who is the owner of a consultancy, management and business firm, was arrested on Thursday evening in the capital.

MACC is investigating whether she solicited and received bribes in exchange for obtaining grants and loans under a Bumiputera financing scheme.

"Initial investigations found that the suspect committed the act in March 2025 and is suspected of having solicited and accepted the RM30,000 from an owner of a company related to armaments and defence," Bernama reports an MACC source as saying.

The woman was placed under remand yesterday at the Kuala Lumpur Magistrate's Court. Her remand order is for seven days until Sept 10.

Meanwhile, Kuala Lumpur MACC Director Mohamad Zakkuan Talib when contacted confirmed the arrest and that the case is being investigated under Section 16(a) (A) of the MACC Act 2009 - Sept 5, 2026
