Kota Kinabalu: Yayasan Sabah Group has extended its 30 per cent Madani Rebate Programme for education loan borrowers until Dec 31, following an overwhelming response to the initiative.
Yayasan Sabah Director Datuk Seri Gulamhaidar Khan Bahadar said the rebate is applicable to borrowers who make full loan repayments in a lump sum within the offer period.
“Only full lump sum payments will qualify borrowers for the 30 per cent rebate on the total loan amount. Borrowers will not be eligible if payments are made in partial or instalments,” he said in a statement, Tuesday.
The special rebate aims to ease the financial burden of borrowers while encouraging prompt repayment to help replenish the education fund for future students pursuing higher studies.
Since its introduction on April 1 this year, 230 borrowers have settled their loans in full, enjoying a total rebate of RM818,815.01. The programme has also enabled Yayasan Sabah Group to collect RM2.02 million in full loan settlements as of Sept 26.
Gulamhaidar said the rebate reflects Yayasan Sabah Group’s commitment to supporting the government’s efforts in advancing education and helping borrowers manage their repayment obligations.
To encourage more participation, borrowers who settle their loans in full will also be eligible to win attractive prizes through a lucky draw. Among the prizes are a three-day, two-night stay for two at the Borneo Rainforest Lodge, Lahad Datu, worth RM8,000, and tour packages to Silam Coast Conservation Area, Taliwas River Conservation Area and Segama Highland (Infapro), along with other prizes sponsored by Yayasan Sabah subsidiaries.
Borrowers who have not begun repayment or have arrears are urged to fulfil their obligations as stipulated in the education loan agreement.
“Repaying the loan will sustain the revolving education fund, ensuring that more future students can benefit,” Gulamhaidar said.
