Magnolia overcomes Bol Bol’s 53, raps TNT to boost playoff hopes

MANILA, Philippines — Magnolia dictated the tempo from the get-go and managed to overcome Bol Bol’s unstoppable scoring night to beat TNT, 106-94, revitalizing its PBA Season 50 Commissioner’s Cup playoff hopes in the process on Tuesday at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium.

The 7-3 Bol scored almost at will en route to finishing with 53 points, to go along with 13 rebounds and five blocks.

But the Hotshots played solidly as a unit on both ends of the floor, with Mark Barroca quarterbacking the team, en route to finishing with 12 assists, while scoring 15 points.

The veteran Magnolia playmaker laced his 33-minute exposure with three triples, while grabbing four rebounds to lead the Hotshots to a 6-5 record.

Magnolia now ties TNT at sixth to seventh spots in the standings.

Clint Chapman also had a superb effort as he scored 42 points, 12 rebounds and two blocks.

The Hotshots played well as a team after finishing with 30 assists compared to just 13 by the Tropang 5G.
