In the ongoing saga of political intrigue, it appears that Tun Mahathir's disdain for Khairy Jamaluddin goes beyond mere policy differences—it is more like a family affair
The revelation that Tun Mahathir holds a grudge because Khairy dared to contest against his precious son, Mukhriz, for the Umno Youth leader post in 2008-2009, feels like a plot twist in a political soap opera.
Khairy, armed with the courage of someone who survived nine years as an Umno youth leader despite the odds, decided to confront Tun Mahathir on his Keluar Sekejap podcast talk show The air was thick with tension as Khairy popped the million-ringgit question: “Why do you dislike me?”
Mahathir, the maestro of political poker faces, didn't miss a beat. "Because you contested against my son," he declared, leaving us all wondering if political grudges are hereditary.
But wait, there's more! Mahathir, in a subtle nod to the tangled web of Malaysian politics, threw in the tidbit about Khairy's mother-in-law, the late Endon Mahmood, campaigning for the latter. It's like a political family reunion, with in-laws and contested elections in the mix.
