Malacañang confirms 2 DICT officials fired for violating bidding rules

MANILA, Philippines — Malacañang on Friday confirmed that two senior officials from the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) have been removed from their posts.

In a Viber message, Palace Press Officer Claire Castro confirmed that Undersecretary for Special Concerns Christina Faye Condez-De Sagon and Assistant Secretary for Regional Development June Vincent Manuel Gaudan were fired.

This follows reports that they changed the terms of reference and pressured the agency’s Bids and Awards Committee to give out multi-million peso contracts to preferred suppliers.

DICT Secretary Henry Aguda issued an order on Aug. 10, 2026 following their dismissal, naming Maria Teresa Magno-Garcia as officer-in-charge of the Office of the Secretary, while Christian Mark G. Guingcangco was named OIC undersecretary for special concerns.
