KUALA LUMPUR – Malaysia Airlines has cancelled all flights between Kuala Lumpur and Johor Bahru and Jeddah and Madinah in Saudi Arabia from Oct 12 to 17 as a precaution following recent attacks on airports in the country.
In a statement, the airline said affected passengers could opt for a full refund or rebook their flights for a later date at no additional cost, within 30 days of their original departure date.
Passengers can submit rebooking or refund requests through the “My Booking” section on the Malaysia Airlines website or mobile app, via Live Chat, or by contacting its Global Contact Centre at 1 300 88 3000 within Malaysia or +603 7843 3000 from overseas.
“Passengers are also reminded to ensure their contact details are up to date via ‘My Booking’ to receive timely notifications,” the airline said.
Malaysia Airlines said it would continue to closely monitor developments in the region, with the safety of passengers and crew remaining its highest priority.
“Flights to and from Doha, Qatar, remain operational at this time,” it said.
The airline apologised for the inconvenience and disruption to passengers’ travel plans and thanked them for their understanding as the situation evolved.
On Saturday, a Houthi attack struck a passenger terminal at King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh, killing 12 people and injuring 309 others, according to Saudi authorities. –BERNAMA
