Malaysia’s women’s badminton team drawn against defending champions China in the Uber Cup quarter-finals.

HORSENS: The Malaysian women’s badminton team face an uphill task after being drawn against defending champions China in the quarter-finals of the 2026 Uber Cup at Forum Horsens here tomorrow.

Malaysia advanced to the quarter-finals as Group B runners-up, while China, the most successful team in the Uber Cup with 16 titles, emerged as Group A champions.

Only the top two teams from each group qualify for the quarter-finals.

The national team opened their Group B campaign by edging Turkey 3-2, followed by a 5-0 win over South Africa, before falling 1-4 to six-time champions Japan.

Meanwhile, today’s knockout-stage draw saw six-time champions Japan, who topped Group B, paired against Group D runners-up Thailand.

Three-time champions Indonesia, who won Group C, will take on hosts Denmark, the runners-up of Group A.

Two-time champions South Korea, who topped Group D, will meet Taiwan, who progressed as Group C runners-up.

The 2026 Uber Cup Finals, which began on April 24, will conclude on May 3.
