KUALA LUMPUR: Youth and Sports Ministry (KBS) has set an ambitious target of 4.5 million participants for the upcoming national-level National Youth Day celebrations.
Minister Dr Mohammed Taufiq Johari announced that the event, themed ‘Mobilising Youths’, will be held at X-Park Sendayan in Negeri Sembilan from May 15 to 17.
“Our hope is to shape 4.5 million leaders ready with patriotic spirit and to be responsible people for Malaysia,” he stated during a media conference following the prelaunch ceremony.
He explained that this year’s celebrations will feature five major segments covering invention and job opportunities, leadership, volunteerism and internationalisation, active Malaysia, innovation and digital, as well as culture, arts and music.
The minister added that the chosen theme clearly depicts the government’s commitment to empowering the young generation as movers of change and deciders of the country’s future.
“This is an important platform to improve the youth development ecosystem comprehensively and the young generation are an important national asset,” he said, noting the government will continue prioritising youth empowerment.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim is scheduled to officiate the 2026 National Youth Day celebrations on the opening day of May 15.
The prelaunch event was also attended by Deputy Youth and Sports Minister Mordi Bimol and other senior ministry officials.
