KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 18 — Three Malaysian men’s pairs – Goh Sze Fei-Nur Izzuddin Mohd Rumsani, Man Wei Chong-Tee Kai Wun and Choong Hon Jian-Muhammad Haikal Nazri – advanced to the second round of the 2025 Australian Open after beating their first-round opponents at Sydney Olympic Park, today.

Second seeds Sze Fei-Nur Izzuddin took only 24 minutes to beat Taiwan’s Zhi Wei He-Huang Jui Hsuan 21-10, 21-10, and will meet either home team Rizky Hidayat-Frengky Wijaya Putra or Liu Kuang Heng-Yang Po Han of Taiwan.

Second Malaysian pair Wei Chong-Kai Wun beat Taiwanese pair Chiang Chien-Wei-Wu Hsuan-Yi 23-21, 21-16, and will meet the Danish team of Christian Faust Kjaer-Rasmus Kjaer, while Hon Jian-Muhammad Haikal surprised seventh seeded Taiwanese pair Lee Jhe Huei-Yang Po Hsuan  21-10, 21-13.

Two other Malaysian pairs crashed out of the first round, Lau Yi Sheng-Lim Tze Jian losing 15-21, 10-21 to Indonesians Fajar Alfian-Muhammad Shohibul Fikri, 15-21, 10-21, and Nur Mohd Azriyn Ayub-Tan Wee Kiong lost to Christian Faust-Rasmus 19-21, 21-13, 20-22. — Bernama
