Malaysians rejoice: FIFA World Cup 2026 to be aired on RTM, Unifi TV

SHAH ALAM, May 6 - Malaysians will be able to watch the FIFA World Cup 2026 live on Radio Televisyen Malaysia (RTM) and Unifi TV after the two platforms were named official broadcasters for the tournament.

Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil said the Madani government is committed to ensuring inclusive access to the global football tournament, combining free-to-air and subscription-based services.

“The MADANI government is committed to ensuring that all Malaysians can enjoy the FIFA World Cup 2026 in an inclusive, legal and comprehensive manner.

“Therefore, the government has decided to collaborate with the private sector to ensure high-quality broadcasting and wide reach,” he said in a statement today.

The matches will be available across multiple platforms, including free-to-air television via MYTV and over-the-top streaming via RTMKlik and Unifi TV, ensuring nationwide accessibility.

Fahmi added that Unifi TV will air all 104 matches live, while RTM will carry the majority of games either live or on a delayed basis.

A dedicated grandstand programme will also be produced from Angkasapuri Kota Media, primarily in Bahasa Melayu with segments in English, while updates will also be featured on RTM’s ‘Selamat Pagi Malaysia’ programme.

“Public viewing events will be held at selected locations to bring fans together and enhance the overall viewing experience. We are also finalising several key sponsorships, which will be announced soon.

“For those who have yet to access RTMKlik, the app is available for download via Google Play and the Apple App Store,” he said.
