TAWAU: A local man in his 30s was arrested after police discovered a stash of powdered and liquid ketum during a raid at a house in Kampung Pukat Tanjung Batu Laut on Wednesday.
District deputy police chief Supt Champin Piuh said the suspect was detained along with 7,164 grams of powdered ketum found in seven transparent packets hidden in a room.
Police also seized 30 bottles of ketum juice, each containing 1.5 litres, stored in an orange container in the kitchen, believed to be worth RM3,000 in total.
The suspect, who showed aggressive behaviour when approached in the living room, was later found to have no prior criminal record and tested negative for drugs.
He is remanded for further investigation under Section 30(3) of the Poisons Act 1952 as police probe possible connections to a local ketum distribution network.
