PENAMPANG: Police arrested a 41-year-old local man and seized 52.09 grams of suspected syabu valued at an estimated RM6,000 during a raid at a hotel in Putatan on Tuesday night.
Penampang District Police Chief Supt Sammy Newton said the arrest was conducted at about 10.30pm by the district Narcotics Criminal Investigation Division under Op Gempur Khas.
A search of the suspect led to the recovery of nine transparent plastic packets containing crystalline substances believed to be syabu, alongside the seizure of cash and several items to facilitate investigations.
A preliminary urine screening returned positive for methamphetamine and amphetamine, while checks confirmed the suspect has previous drug-related records.
The case is being investigated under Section 39B and Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
