Kota Kinabalu: Family members of a 30-year-old managed to talk him out of a suicide attempt at the 10th floor of Sutera Avenue, here, Thursday evening.

The Sabah Fire and Rescue Department Operations Centre (PGO) said they received a distress call at 4.13 pm.

Thirteen personnel from the Kota Kinabalu Station rushed to the scene, according to a statement.

“The victim was handed over to police for further action and the operation was called off 20 minutes later,” said a PGO spokesperson.

On Monday, rescue workers managed to drag a man ashore after he jumped from a bridge along Jalan Baru in Beaufort in an apparent suicide attempt.

The 39-year-old, who plunged into the river while wearing a motorcycle helmet, escaped without serious injuries in the 6.40pm incident.
