Kota Kinabalu: A 37-year-old man was charged in the Magistrate’s Court here today with three counts of voluntarily causing injury to three men with a knife.
Abdull Rahman Adnan pleaded not guilty before Magistrate Marilyn Kelvin to committing the offences at 9.30pm on Aug 18 at Kg Muhibbah, Petagas, Putatan.
He was accused of voluntarily causing injury to Rizuan Muhammad, 40, with a knife in the first charge.
The second charge involved Mohd Azrul Jamri, 34, while the third involved Mohd Safuan Nasip, 35.
All three charges were framed under Section 324 of the Penal Code, which carries a jail term of up to 10 years, or a fine, or whipping, or any two of the punishments, upon conviction.
The court fixed Sept 18, Oct 1 and Oct 22 for pre-trial case management before three different Magistrate’s Courts.
Abdull was released on RM1,300 bail in two sureties for each charge and was ordered to report to the investigating officer once a month.
Meanwhile, two men were each sentenced to seven months’ jail for disposing of stolen property.
Erwan Zulfekar Edin, 30, and Ahmad Asrein Badallumin, 28, pleaded guilty to moving two stolen yellow BCR-marked gas cylinders belonging to Borneo Chicken Rice.
The offence was committed in front of Baz Mini Market at UUC, Jalan Kayu Madang, on Aug 27.
They were charged under Section 414, read together with Section 34, of the Penal Code, which carries a jail term of up to five years, or a fine, or both, upon conviction.
The prosecution told the court that the two gas cylinders were discovered missing from behind the Borneo Chicken Rice restaurant at UUC, Jalan Kayu Madang, at about 12.15pm on Aug 23.
Police subsequently arrested Erwan and Ahmad in connection with the case.
Represented by duty counsel Jasamine Tan, both men appealed for leniency, while the prosecution sought a deterrent sentence.
The court ordered them to serve their sentences from the date of their arrest.
