
Kota Kinabalu: A 49-year-old man was charged in the Magistrate’s Court here with displaying a false road tax disc.
Hasbi Boamin, 49, pleaded not guilty before Magistrate Dzul Elmy Yunus to committing the offence at 1.30am on September 18 this year, while riding a motorcycle along a roadside in Kota Kinabalu.
He was accused of altering and displaying a road tax disc that did not match the motorcycle’s registration.
The offence is framed under Section 108(3)(a) of the Road Transport Act 1987 (Amendment 2020).
The court fixed Nov 17 for pre-trial case management and released him on bail of RM1,400 in two sureties.
In another case, two women were fined RM1,000 each or two months’ jail in default for having gambling paraphernalia.
Alicia Joseph, 25, pleaded guilty to having five lottery tickets during a police operation at Donggongon New Township on Aug 13 at about 3.30pm.
Separately, Stepefiona Chung admitted to the same offence after she was found with five lottery tickets during a raid in Putatan town on July 27 at about 5.45pm.
Both women were charged under Section 9(1) of the Common Gaming Houses Act 1953, which carries a maximum fine of RM5,000, or up to six months’ jail, or both.
