TAWAU: A man died after he was trapped in his car following a self-accident involving a collision with an electricity pole at Kampung Jawa, Jalan Dr Yamamoto, early Sunday morning.
Tawau Fire and Rescue Station (BBP) chief Jemishin Ujin said the 32-year-old victim was confirmed dead at the scene by medical personnel.
He said a team of 10 firefighters and two engines were dispatched to the location immediately after receiving an emergency call via Mers999 at 5.13am.
The accident involved a Proton Satria believed to have skidded before crashing into the pole and overturning.
The victim, who was pinned inside the vehicle, was successfully extricated by firefighters through the broken rear window.
