
TAWAU: A 29-year-old woman suffered a hand injury after getting trapped in a meat grinder at the Ba Zhong Commercial Centre here on Monday.
Tawau Fire and Rescue Station Chief Jemishin Ujin said his team rescued the victim by carefully extracting her hand from the machine using hydraulic power tools.
He said the woman was then transported to Tawau Hospital via an Emergency Medical Rescue Service vehicle for further treatment.
The team was initially prompted to the scene after receiving a 2.37pm distress call.
They arrived at the scene at 2.45pm and immediately began the operation to free the victim.
The operation ended at 3.47pm after they made sure there were no further hazards at the scene.
