- Emergency services were alerted to Blackpool Sands in Strete at 3.30pm following concerns for the swimmer's welfare.
- HM Coastguard recovered the man from the water, but he was pronounced dead at the scene despite treatment from paramedics.
- Devon and Cornwall Police confirmed that the death is not being treated as suspicious.
- A file regarding the incident will be prepared for the coroner.
