TAWAU: The charred remains of a 52-year-old was found in a room of a block of quarters which was destroyed by fire at Ladang Brumas Estate, Kalabakan, Sunday morning.
Tawau Fire and Rescue Station Chief Jemishin Ujin said the victim, identified as Soffian Aggel Ibrahim, was believed to have been trapped in the room due to thick smoke.
He said they received a call at 1.50pm from the Bombalai Police Station and a nine-member team was sent to the scene.
“The block of quarters comprising seven units was completely burnt,” he said, adding the victim was handed over to the police for further action and the operation ended at 6.31pm.
