SANDAKAN: Police arrested a man suspected of being involved in a housebreaking case at the third-floor staircase of Block P, Bandar Ramai-Ramai, Jalan Leila, here.
District Police Chief ACP George Abd Rakman said personnel from Sandakan police station acted on information and arrested the suspect at about 4.30pm on Tuesday.
He said an initial body search found no illegal items on the suspect. However, a subsequent search of the nearby area uncovered a purple plastic bag believed to contain stolen property.
“Among the items seized were a pair of black shoes, scissors and several other items believed to be linked to the case,” he said.
George said the suspect and seized items were taken to Sandakan Police Station for further investigation.
The case is being investigated under Section 457 of the Penal Code for housebreaking.
Police urged the public to provide information on criminal activities in their respective areas to assist authorities in combating crime.
