
KOTA BELUD: Police arrested a 24-year-old local man and seized 53.37 grammes of suspected syabu worth RM5,337 during a raid at a house in Kampung Wokok Kinuta, Jalan Sorob, here, on Wednesday.
The raid was conducted by the District Narcotics Crime Investigation Division at about 12.15pm on Aug 27 following intelligence on suspected drug activities in the area.
District Police Chief Supt Khairul Shah Peri said a search of the suspect and the premises uncovered a transparent plastic packet containing clear crystalline substances believed to be methamphetamine, commonly known as syabu.
“The drugs weighed 53.37 grammes and were estimated to be worth RM5,337,” he said.
The suspect was detained to assist investigations. The case is being investigated under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 for suspected drug trafficking.
Khairul Shah said police would continue to intensify operations against drug trafficking and abuse in the district.
He also urged the public to channel information on drug-related activities to the police to help combat the problem.
