
TAMBUNAN: A 51-year-old man died after the Toyota Hilux he was driving reportedly skidded off the road in a single-vehicle accident along Jalan Dabata here on Wednesday night.
The Fire and Rescue Department received an emergency call regarding the incident at 10.53pm and dispatched six personnel from the Tambunan Fire and Rescue Station, together with a Light Fire Rescue Tender and an Emergency Medical Rescue Services unit, to the scene located about three kilometres away.
Upon arrival at 10.55pm, firefighters found the vehicle on the road shoulder and the driver trapped inside in an unconscious condition.
The rescue team used special extrication equipment to remove the victim, who was identified as Betus Yussof, before he was pronounced dead at the scene by a Ministry of Health medical officer due to severe injuries.
The victim's body was handed over to the hospital for further action, while the operation was brought under control at 12.10am and officially concluded a minute later after firefighters confirmed the area was safe.
