Man ordered to undergo mental observation

Kota Kinabalu: A 28-year-old man who was charged with causing grievous hurt to his colleague was referred to the Hospital Mesra in Bukit Padang for mental observation.

Sessions Court Judge Ummu Khaltom Abdul Samad made the order after Sandul Hajijul claimed that he was having hallucination and heard voices.

Earlier, Sandul had pleaded guilty to the charge against him but his plea was not accepted when he told the court about the matter. Sandul would be in the hospital for a month’s observation and the court set Nov 10 for mention.

He is accused of assaulting Hakim Qushayyi Cheah, 42, by using a screw driver at 9.15am on Aug 7 at a construction site in Kem Lok Kawi, Kinarut.

In another case, a 53-year-old man charged with committing physical sexual harassment against his daughter will go trial on March 4-5, next year.

The court set the date for the man who maintained his plea of not guilty.

The man allegedly committed the offence against the 10-year-old girl by inserting his finger into the girl’s private part for the purpose of sex.

The offence allegedly took place in March 2022 at 2pm at a house in Ranau.

Deputy Public Prosecutor Suriyati Jumain appeared for the prosecution while the man was not represented.
