Manchester United have moved to block Alejandro Garnacho from joining Argentina's U20 World Cup squad.
Garnacho had made a personal request to United manager Erik ten Hag to release him for the tournament next month.
Argentinian journalist Gaston Edul is reporting Garnacho has seen his request turned down by Ten Hag and United management.
Argentina U20 coach Javier Mascherano was eager to include Garnacho in their squad and planned to fly to England for talks with United.
Argentina had failed to qualify for the original tournament, but they earned a reprieve after stepping in as hosts last month.
