Manchester United are set to axe Richard Arnold when the club's takeover is confirmed.

The chief executive took over from Ed Woodward a year ago, but may already be looking over his shoulder.

Per The Sun, Sir Jim Ratcliffe is now the favourite to take over United ahead of the Qatari royal family's bid.

The British billionaire, who owns INEOS, will move along Arnold and bring in his own decision makers.

Chelsea went through a similar phase last season, when the likes of Petr Cech, Marina Granovskaia and Bruce Buck were moved on by new ownership.

United fans should find out who will buy the club within the next few days, according to British media reports.
