MANILA Mayor Isko Moreno on Thursday said the city government has forged a partnership with the Light Rail Manila Corp. (LRMC) for employment of persons with disabilities (PWDs).
"We have further expanded job opportunities for our PWDs," Moreno said in Filipino in a Facebook post.
The initiative is under the city's Special Program for the Employment of Persons with Disability.
Present during the signing rites were Moreno, Vice Mayor Chi Atienza, Acting Public Employment Service Office Manager John Hiroshi Umeda Jr., and LRMC Human Resource Head Pearlie Galina.
"Before, only private companies were our partners. Now, we are also joined by the national government and government-owned and controlled corporations so that more PWDs can be given jobs," Moreno said.
"As long as they are able and willing to work, we will give them a chance," he added.
