MANILA, Philippines — Manila City Vice Mayor Chi Atienza was named among the top three Outstanding Vice Mayors in the Philippines at the Gawad Pilipino Awards held at the AFP Commissioned Officers Club House in Camp Aguinaldo, Quezon City.
Atienza, who is in her first year as presiding officer of the 13th Manila City Council, received the recognition for exemplary governance, community-driven legislation and public service, according to the statement of the Office of the Vice Mayor on Saturday.
Manila 4th District Councilor Eunice Ann Denice Castro was also recognized as one of the country's Outstanding Councilors.
Atienza dedicated the recognition to Manileños and credited the city government, the Manila City Council and Mayor Isko Moreno Domagoso for their support.
She said that the award would motivate her to pursue more progressive measures as presiding officer of the city council.
Her office said that it would continue coordinating with the executive branch to advance ordinances focused on health care, social welfare and community livelihood programs.
