PAPAR: Papar Member of Parliament, Ahmad Hassan described the government’s action to mandate the implementation of the minimum wage of RM1,500 as ‘nonsense’ as there are still many civil servants receiving wages below that level.

Ahmad, who is also the Supreme Council member of Parti Warisan Sabah (Warisan), said that the majority of civil servants, especially of the lower grade, still receive a salary of RM1,208.

According to him, although the setting of the minimum wage which came into effect on May 1 was understood to be for the private sector, its implementation also involved the interests of civil servants.
