- Ethiopian marathon runner Ruti Aga has been handed a six-year ban from athletics after testing positive for a banned steroid and submitting a fake prescription.
- The 32-year-old 2019 Tokyo Marathon winner tested positive for methylprednisolone following a half-marathon victory in China in March.
- An investigation revealed that the medical prescription she submitted came from a non-existent clinic and was issued by an unregistered family member.
- The Athletics Integrity Unit imposed a two-year ban for the positive test alongside a consecutive four-year ban for tampering with the investigation.
- The sanction was finalised without a hearing after Aga failed to respond to the anti-doping charges before the specified deadline.
