PRESIDENT Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has approved the guidelines for the observance of the Global Warming and Climate Change Consciousness Week on Nov. 19 to 25.
Released through Executive Secretary Ralph Recto, Memorandum Circular 140 orders government bodies, government-owned and -controlled corporations, and state universities and colleges to participate in the event.
”The 2026 Global Warming and Climate Change Consciousness Week will be celebrated nationwide from 19 to 25 November 2026, to be led by the Climate Change Commission (CCC) under the theme, ‘Komunidad, Kooperasyon at Koordinasyon para sa Klima,’ and its successful celebration will require the active participation of all concerned government agencies and instrumentalities, as well as the support of local government units, educational institutions, civil society organizations and the private sector,” the memorandum read.
The CCC is the government’s primary policymaking agency on climate issues under Republic Act 9729 and its amendment, Republic Act 10174.
The funding for the initiative will come from each agency’s existing budget, following standard budget, accounting and auditing rules. The Presidential Communications Office, meanwhile, was instructed to raise public awareness on the event.
