MANILA, Philippines — Fresh from winning her first WTA Tour-level title at the 500 Mubadala D.C. Open early Tuesday in Manila, Filipino tennis ace Alex Eala is set to face American Alycia Parks in a rematch at the 1000 National Bank Open round of 64 (second round) in Toronto.
World No. 20 Eala fell to No. 78 Parks in their first encounter at the Australian Open first round, 6-0, 3-6, 2-6, last January.
Parks topped world No. 122 Victoria Jiménez Kasintseva in the first round in Toronto, 6-4, 6-4, just hours after Eala defeated No. 3 Jessica Pegula in the Washington final, 4-6, 6-4, 6-0.
Eala faces Parks on either Wednesday or Thursday.
