MANILA, Philippines — President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. on Friday established the Education Philippines (EduPhil) Program, aimed at promoting the country as a destination for international students seeking higher education.
Executive Order 124, signed on Sept. 8, 2026 stated that the EduPhil program was established to globalize Philippine higher education by boosting academic and research partnerships while making it easier for foreign students to study in the country.
The initiative was established after the administration saw the increasing relevance of international education as drivers of “economic growth, innovation, cultural diplomacy, human capital development, and international cooperation.”
The Commission on Higher Education (CHED) is mandated to serve as the implementing body of the said program.
