MANILA, Philippines — President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. said he was “back in harness” and has been easing back to his usual grind in Malacañang.
In a video shared by Presidential Communications Office (PCO) Undersecretary Claire Castro to reporters on Wednesday night, Marcos disclosed that his lessened public engagements were due to his doctors’ orders to slow down after being diagnosed with diverticulitis, a condition where there is abnormal inflammation in the wall of the large intestine.
“I’m okay. I have good doctors. They just gave me medicine and I'm still on antibiotics. But I'm okay,” he said in Filipino, adding that he will spend the next day, Thursday, being cooped up in “meetings in the office.” The chief executive also shared that he was put on a strict liquid diet the past several days to “rest” his digestive system and had been “dreaming of steak.” “For a few days, I couldn't eat solid food to relieve the stress on my intestines. So, I only had soup. I had a dream one night. I told my doctor that I dreamt that I ate steak. It’s allowed now,” he said.
"Thank you for your concern. I got the best possible medical care, that’s why I’m already back in harness,” he added.
