The New York Knicks finally delivered the celebration their city had waited 53 years to see.
After beating the San Antonio Spurs in five games, the parade took over lower Manhattan this Thursday, with fans lining the Canyon of Heroes before the route moved towards City Hall.
That drought made the day bigger than a normal parade, and it also brought out familiar New York faces. Martha Stewart was among them.
Martha Stewart opens up on her journey to the Knicks parade

Stewart, a businesswoman, TV personality and one of the most recognisable names in American media, was among the celebrities in attendance.
Her day started early, with help from James Dolan, who met her at Madison Square Garden before the group headed downtown together.
Stewart wrote on Instagram: “Complicated journey to the Knicks parade! Leave Bedford 6am, arrive MSG greeted by the big man himself, owner James Dolan, board huge bus with Knicks ‘family’ members, travel to downtown with police escort for breakfast with the Knicks! More to come.”
Martha Stewart has long been part of the Knicks fanbase
Stewart’s place at the parade also fit a longer Knicks story.
She is a lifelong supporter dating back to the 1960s, meaning she remembers the era of Walt Frazier, Dave DeBusschere and Earl Monroe. But her passion was not left in the past.
The current players also acknowledge Stewart’s story with the team, as OG Anunoby and Skechers sent her an autographed pair of size 15.5 shoes during the Finals run, after she praised his footwear online.
