'Maymay' exits Luzon landmass, out of PH

MANILA, Philippines — Tropical Depression "Maymay" has exited the landmass of Luzon and was now over the Philippine sea, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa).

In its 5 p.m. bulletin, "Maymay" was last seen at 150 kilometers east-northeast of Echague, Isabela, moving east-southeastward at 35 kilometers per hour (kph) and packing maximum sustained winds of 45 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 70 kph.

Signal No. 1 is up in the southeastern portion of mainland Cagayan (Tuao, Piat, Enrile, Alcala, Amulung, Baggao, Solana, Tuguegarao City, Gattaran, Peñablanca, Iguig), Isabela, Quirino, the northeastern portion of Nueva Vizcaya (Dupax del Norte, Kasibu, Quezon, Bagabag, Diadi, Bayombong, Ambaguio, Villaverde, Bambang, Solano, Alfonso Castañeda, Dupax del Sur), the northern and central portions of Aurora (Dilasag, Casiguran, Dinalungan, Dipaculao), the eastern portion of Kalinga (City of Tabuk, Pinukpuk, Tanudan, Lubuagan, Rizal), the eastern portion of Mountain Province (Paracelis, Natonin, Barlig) and the eastern portion of Ifugao (Lagawe, Aguinaldo, Asipulo, Hingyon, Kiangan, Lamut, Alfonso Lista, Mayoyao, Banaue).

These areas can expect wind speeds of 39 to 61 kph in the next 36 hours.

"Maymay" continues to bring heavy rainfall in the areas of Ilocos Sur, La Union, Pangasinan and Benguet.

The storm, which could become a low pressure area in the next few hours, will be seen 295 kilometers east of Casiguran, Aurora by 2 a.m. of Friday.

Meanhwhile, a strengthened southwest monsoon is bringing rainfall to most of the Luzon, including Metro Manila, according to Pagasa.

The rest of the country will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers due to localized thunderstorms.
