The Melaka Chief Minister’s Office denies viral claims that Chief Minister Datuk Seri Ab Rauf Yusoh signed a document to dissolve the state assembly today.

MELAKA: The Melaka Chief Minister’s Office has denied allegations that Chief Minister Datuk Seri Ab Rauf Yusoh signed the State Legislative Assembly (DUN) dissolution document in the presence of the Yang Dipertua Negeri of Melaka Tun Mohd Ali Rustam, today.

The office’s Media Communications head Norhafizah Sati said the message that went viral on WhatsApp was false and urged the public and media not to believe it.

“I have not been informed of any meeting as of today (between the Chief Minister and the Yang Dipertua Negeri of Melaka). Any statement will be promptly communicated by the Chief Minister’s Office.

“Everything that has gone viral is completely untrue. We ask our media friends not to believe any viral information without confirmation from the Melaka Chief Minister’s Office,” she said in a statement in a media WhatsApp group today.

Earlier, a message went viral on the mobile application claiming that Ab Rauf had signed the Melaka DUN dissolution document with Mohd Ali at 10.30 am today in the Guest Room of the Chief Executive Officer (CEO)’s Office at MITC, Ayer Keroh.

In the previous State Election, Barisan Nasional, led by Ab Rauf, formed the state government after winning 21 of the 28 DUN seats, while Pakatan Harapan won five and Perikatan Nasional two.

The Melaka DUN term will expire in December.
