
KUNAK: The construction of the Sabah Maju Jaya (SMJ) Mesra Rakyat home will benefit especially the poor who cannot afford to own their own home.
Kunak Community Development Leader Hussin Mohd Rais said, previously about 20 SMJ houses had been proposed to be built early this year and 12 had been submitted by UPPM and eight by the District Office.
“Currently, there are still some SMJ Rumah Mesra Rakyat under construction while others have been completed and occupied by the recipients,” he said on Friday after inspecting a SMJ houses in Kg Kadazan, here, already occupied the recipients.
Hussin said among the SMJ houses under construction and would be built are in Kg Lormalong, Kg Getah, Kg Mostyn Lama, Kg Pangi, Kg Kunak Jaya and Kg Kadazan.

“The construction of Rumah Mesra SMJ is in line with the State Government’s initiative and Sabah Maju Jaya to help the poor who need a perfect home,” he said.
Meanwhile, a recipient of SMJ housing in Kg Kadazan, Maduali Saini said she appreciates the commitment and support from the Kunak UPPM Unit which inspected the condition of her home in October last year and subsequently approved her application for SMJ Friendly Home assistance.
