MetMalaysia: Air quality unhealthy in 35 areas at 10am

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 7 — A total of 35 areas nationwide recorded unhealthy Air Pollutant Index (API) readings as at 10 am today.

According to the Air Pollutant Index Management System (APIMS) portal, Batu Pahat in Johor and Johan Setia in Selangor recorded the highest API readings at 190 each, followed by Cheras in Kuala Lumpur and Nilai in Negeri Sembilan at 189 each, and Putrajaya at 187.

Other places were Shah Alam (180), Petaling Jaya (176), Banting (176) and Klang (169) in Selangor; Batu Muda in Kuala Lumpur (177); Tanjung Malim (154), Tasek Ipoh (147) and Pegoh Ipoh (113) in Perak; and Seremban (181) and Port Dickson (169) in Negeri Sembilan.

Bukit Rambai (175), Alor Gajah (174) and Bandaraya Melaka (174) in Melaka; Segamat (177), Pasir Gudang (173), Tangkak (169), Larkin (167), Pengerang (165), Kota Tinggi (164) and Kluang (161) in Johor.

Temerloh (168), Indera Mahkota (160), Jerantut (159), Rompin (158), Balok Baru (156) and Kuantan (156) in Pahang; and Kemaman (156), Paka (156) and Kuala Terengganu (120) in Terengganu.

It said the API was 155 in Tawau, Sabah and 152 in the Serian Police headquarters (IPD) in Sarawak. 

Meanwhile, 31 areas had a moderate API reading while two areas had a good API reading.

An API reading of 0 to 50 indicates good air quality; 51 to 100, moderate; 101 to 200, unhealthy; 201 to 300, very unhealthy; and 300 and above, hazardous. — Bernama
