The Nakodar city police have arrested a migrant on the charge of extortion and murder bid. Investigating Officer Rajindar Pal Singh said that the accused has been identified as Deepak Kumar, resident of Lucknow, UP presently living in Ludhiana.
The victim had complained to the police that he received a WhatsApp call on his mobile number demanding a huge amount of money as ransom and threatened him with dire consequences. Investigating Officer said a case under section 308(5) (extortion by putting a person in fear of death or grievous hurt), 351(3) (criminal intimidation of the BNS was registered against the accused.
Nakodar Sadar police station house officer Palwindar Singh said that the accused is also wanted in a case of attempt to murder registered in February 2026 against him.
