Mikal Bridges was an integral part of Mike Brown’s team that just won the New York Knicks’ first championship since 1973.
The Knicks traded for Bridges from the Phoenix Suns in 2024, and he immediately became an important two-way player.
The 29-year-old proved his value in the NBA Finals against the San Antonio Spurs, averaging more than 10 points per game.
Bridges was also responsible for defending several of the Spurs’ guards at times: De’Aaron Fox, Stephon Castle and Dylan Harper.
However, the former Suns forward enjoyed a special memory the Knicks created off the court more than anything else.

Mikal Bridges reveals the standout memory from the Knicks’ championship season
Mikal Bridges will always be remembered as a key member of the Knicks’ first title-winning team in 53 years.
The 29-year-old is far from the flashiest player, on either side of the ball, but every coach would want him on their team.
Bridges was excellent for Mike Brown’s team throughout the season and deserved to celebrate tirelessly with his teammates.
The forward has now explained his favourite moment from the Knicks’ five-game NBA Finals victory over the Spurs.
“Honestly, for me, just the plane ride back from San Antonio,” Bridges said. “We didn’t stay in San Antonio after, so we got back at about 8 am.
“Everybody being on the plane, bumping music… we were all sitting in the front, all our team, reminiscing…
“It was a long season, a long grind. We were in Abu Dhabi in September or October, so all the moments, the highs and lows to finally win a championship…
“It was just dope to have everybody on the plane just talking about it, still drinking, enjoying the time, just us, before we all scatter and go about our lives this summer.”
Bridges’ answer perfectly encapsulates the camaraderie within the Knicks locker room following their title win.
Many successful teams across different sports also point to chemistry as a key factor, and the Knicks have it in abundance.
