
Tuaran: A 15-year-old boy who went missing while swimming with his family at Sabandar Beach on Sunday was found drowned later the same day.
Tuaran Fire and Rescue Chief Mohamad Nor Amit said the victim’s body was discovered by members of the public assisting in the search and rescue operation at 7.05pm.
The body was located along the shoreline, about one kilometre from where the teenager was last seen.
“The victim was pronounced dead by a medical officer, and the body was handed over to police for further action,” said Mohamad Nor.
The search operation involved 14 fire and rescue personnel, with additional support from the Civil Defence Force, police and villagers.
Authorities received the distress call at 5.23pm, and the operation ended at 7.50pm following the discovery.
