Tuaran: A 12-year-old girl reported missing while bathing with family members in the Kampung Serusop River here has been found drowned.

The body of Syaza Wardiah Muesa was found at 11.47am on Thursday by Fire and Rescue personnel who assisted in the search and rescue operation.

Kota Belud Fire and Rescue Station Chief Abdul Qawie Abdul Gapar said the second day of search on Thursday began at 6.23am with the cooperation of various rescue agencies.

“The victim’s body was found about four metres at the bottom of the river not far from where she was last seen.

Qawie said the victim’s body was then handed over to the police for further action, adding the operation ended at 12.10pm.

At about 2.30pm on Wednesday, witnesses said they saw three victims were involved but two managed to be saved.
