PUTRAJAYA, June 27 — Malaysia’s Health Ministry has confirmed its official website was hacked after the portal displayed a message believed to have been left by the attackers. The incident forced the site offline and sparked urgent recovery efforts.
The ministry said a detailed investigation is under way to identify the cause, while restoration work is being carried out to bring the portal back online as quickly as possible.
“The ministry takes this incident seriously and is working closely with relevant agencies to strengthen system security and prevent a recurrence,” it said.
During the outage, the public has been advised to rely on the ministry’s verified social media channels and other official platforms for health information. The ministry also apologised for the inconvenience and pledged to provide updates as recovery continues.
In a Facebook post earlier, the ministry acknowledged the hacking incident and urged the public to avoid accessing www.moh.gov.my, warning against clicking suspicious links or downloading files from the site. It said health updates would be shared through its other official channels.
“Data security and the delivery of public services remain our priority,” the post added.
