READY to prove their mettle against top international talent, standout swimmers Behrouz Mohammad “Madi” Mojdeh and Mikhael Jasper “Mikee” Mojdeh will spearhead a formidable Swim League Philippines (SLP) Patriots contingent hunting for a massive medal haul at the 3rd Asian Open Schools Invitational (AOSI) Short Course Swimming Championships in Bangkok, Thailand.
Joining the Mojdeh brothers are 10 other tankers aiming to haul gold medals in the tournament hosted at the Assumption University Aquatic Center Suvarnabhumi from Aug. 29 to 30.
Both Madi and Mikee will be competing in six events each.
The 15-year-old Madi aims for a sweep across all his events in the 200-m IM, 200-m breaststroke, 200-m butterfly, 200-m backstroke, 100-m butterfly, and 200-m freestyle.
Meanwhile, Mikee will see action in the 200-m IM, 100-m freestyle, 50-m backstroke, 100-m butterfly, 100-m backstroke, and 200-m freestyle.
“These kids are the future of Philippine swimming. We give them international exposure so they can build strength, sharpen their spirit, and grow bolder in the water,” said BEST team manager Joan Mojdeh.
Accompanying the Mojdeh brothers in the delegation are their teammates from the Behrouz Elite Swimming Team (BEST) Annika Quinto, Clara Maligat, Athena Custodio, and Yisa Gamab.
Quinto will compete in the 50-m freestyle, 100-m freestyle, 50-m backstroke, 100-m backstroke, 50-m butterfly, and 100-m IM, while Maligat takes the water in the 25-m butterfly, 100-m freestyle, 200-m butterfly, 100-m butterfly, 50-m butterfly, and 200-m freestyle.
Custodio will go all out in the 200-m IM, 200-m breaststroke, 100-m breaststroke, 200-m backstroke, 100-m backstroke, and 100-m IM, whereas Gamab will push forward in the 50-m freestyle, 100-m breaststroke, 50-m backstroke, 25-m freestyle, 50-m breaststroke, and 25-m breaststroke.
Rounding out the 12-man team are Adrian Navarro, Amielle Anika Eugenio, Isabella O’Flaherty, Nino Pugay, and Rylle Gabriel Bernardino.
“Building world-class strength and fierce determination — these young athletes are diving into the international arena with one clear goal: to fight for the gold,” Joan added.
Also joining the squad is veteran coach Jeremiah Paez.
